In Rohrbachstraße 53 in Frankfurt am Main, aedus is refurbishing an ensemble of buildings consisting of a front and rear building in the middle of Nordend, surrounded by apartment buildings from the Wilhelminian period. The front and rear buildings are to continue to blend harmoniously into the image of the district from the outside, while the interior is to be modernized and refurbished to a modern standard. With the treatment of the red sandstone of the facade, which is typical for Frankfurt, and new stylish wooden windows, aedus creates special quality and works on the preservation of the original building expression.
A total of 950 sqm of living space and 50 sqm of commercial space will be successively renovated here. Details such as the historic doors will be refurbished in keeping with the style, and sanitary areas, kitchens, windows and wooden floorboards will be installed and renewed to a modern standard in order to emphasize the character of the period building. This also includes the design of an attractive staircase and courtyard as well as the planning of new balconies for the apartments in the front building. The building’s utilities will be brought up to the latest state of the art.
